Data-driven Innovation Keynote

In a keynote that was first presented for IoT communities, our CTO, Christian Lawaetz, speaks about the current state of data-driven innovation and how it plays into the growth of businesses. He talks about our approach to innovation at Valuer, based on the scientific method and agile science. If it is not tested, then it is not true.

The presentation starts by speaking about one of the largest elephants in the room that many innovation professionals work with—how do you quantify ground-breaking innovation when you often don’t know what form that innovation will take. That is to say, how can you know what you don’t know. When it comes to innovative advancements, they, in essence, need to be categorized before one can understand their potential, yet how do we categorize something without knowing what a particular innovation can do. Christian equates this to the “chicken and the egg” dilemma.

In this keynote, he goes through his methodologies for exploring innovation and how a business can leverage the power of experimentation and the scientific method. He speaks about the power of open-mindedness regarding experimentation and how holding on to expectations can often lead to failure and missed opportunities.
